Now this one relies on a particularly selective pronunciation for the pun. It's entirely dependent on the way you would say the word (as opposed to one of my better mistakes from last year here). After a cursory scroll across search results on Google, Merriam-Webster says both peek-a & pie-ka, Dictionary.com says pie-ka, and Encyclopedia Britannica’s primary video also pronounces it pie-ka, while the entomological root is peek-a.
Personally I'll go with the original source material, as in, hearing them firsthand live when they whistle out their little alarms while hiking in the Alaskan hinterlands: PEEEEEK!!! PEEEEK!!!
