Heartland: A Decade of Doodles

1998 marked another spiffy spread commemorating ten years of the Freeze-Frame feature being published in the paper. To these ends there was also a grand retrospective (the first of the infamous "Stiff Hairy Pelts") hung in a local watering hole down the hill from UAF campus: everything was stripped off the walls of The Marlin and coated the bar's interior with copies of cartoons mounted on foamcore (establishing precedence for what arguably was my last show in town). The up and coming bluegrass band Clark County did their first-ever set with unamplified instruments around a single mic, and chicken-wings and beer was on the house. This show was concurrent with my BFA exhibition being shown in the UAF Fine Art gallery, and metaphorically illustrated the schizoid nature of my artwork, having one foot in two different worlds.
