Another mixed blessing what with the extended winter leading directly into record-breaking temperatures in the 90's. Now the bane of the Bush rears its head over another summer season and more than a million acres are burning away across Alaska. And no, it doesn't keep the mosquitoes down a damn bit.

Many friends recently and narrowly avoided evacuation from around this neck of the woods, and now they're facing it again but from a different fire coming from another direction. In conjunction with the Hotshot tragedy in AZ, here's a hat-tip to some real heroes.
