Don’t Retweet, Reload: The 2nd Amendment Task Farce

Alaska's own Second Amendment Task Force, the Alaska Peacemaker’s Militia and the Liberty Bell Network (not to be confused with former State Legislator Mike Kelly’s "Liberty Caucus”) was broken up a bit on Thursday with the arrest of five “sovereign citizens” in Fairbanks (some backstory posted here and here). Also not to be confused with the Interior Alaska Conservative Coalition, no affiliation at all, none whatsoever.
*More below the fold

According to the official criminal complaint, Cox
“… began amassing multiple caches … known to include a tripod-mounted .30 caliber machine gun, at least one fully automatic rifle, multiple pineapple grenades, at least one grenade launcher, multiple dozens of other high-powered assault rifles and pistols, and thousands of rounds of ammunition.”
Cox and his commanders came up with a “241” (two for one) plan which called for militia members to retaliate to any arrest of one of their posse by kidnapping twice as many state court or law enforcement officials; ditto for any killings, and “if his house was taken, two state target houses would be burned.” To these ends the posse put State Troopers under surveillance during “recon missions,” photographing them and their property. Cox was “lawfully recorded by the FBI through technological means available to them” making such statements that he
“...would not target a woman or child, but if their kids get killed in the process, so be it” and “I don’t desire that people suffer for suffering’s sake, but if it gets the point across I’m not against sending somebody’s head in a box.”
A hallmark of a sociopath's behavior is the crafty ability to successfully function in society by cloaking oneself in folksy, slick and affable charm. Watching this video is revealing in retrospect: some of the footage is taken from the April 13th 2009 Open Carry Day at Carl’s Junior, home of the colossal whoppers. Note the jolly debut of Congressman Don Young (at .40) as he signs on:

Note: Rep. Young's communications director, Meredith Kenny, said the video shows Rep. Young signing the letter at an "open-carry day" in Fairbanks in the spring of 2009
"Rep. Young attended not because of anything having to do with Cox -- nor is he in any way affiliated with Cox -- but because he has always been a vocal and staunch defender of the Second Amendment," Kenny said. "Congressman Young stands strong with gun owners of America, and will always defend the 2nd Amendment rights of Americans." - from Political Correction

This is Exhibit A: a perfect example of the American Taliban, escalated to a whole new level of crazy and unhinged paranoia. Their desire to conduct “guerrilla warfare” against anybody who gets in their way while quickening the end of days is a causative outcome of all the collective “isolated incidents” that are ramping up across America. This is the target audience for narcissistic politicians who mindlessly chum the dark waters, actively lending their hand at stroking militant, masturbatory fetishes hoping to incite unrest and outright revolt.
“I just want to get back to building an army and preparing for a revolution.” - Schaeffer Cox

  2. At one town meeting over a contentious issue here in E-ham, an aggrieved local complained about all the outsiders coming in and raising the median income. He never complained about us raising the median IQ, but I'm sure it was on what passes for his mind.

  3. Jamie, I saw a comment I thought you might find interesting in the paper. Supposedly Schaeffer Cox's dad is the preacher at the local church right at the foot of the University. If that is true, I wonder what went wrong with his sermons.

  5. Bigmike: That's a tip I'll follow up on, but one thing's for sure, the difference in content between the Anchorage Daily comment thread and the Fairbanks News-Miner's on the same story sure is revealing.
And amusing, in a sad, twisted and horrifying sort of way.

  6. I've known Schaeffer since he was 18...I think maybe you might look into your own behaviorisms...narcissistic maybe?

"Egomaniac with an inferiority complex" is probably closer though...
