"Endangered Species"

“Environmentalists are a socialist group of individuals that are the tool of the Democrat Party. I’m proud to say that they are my enemy. They are not Americans, never have been Americans, never will be Americans.” (Alaska Public Radio, Aug. 19, 1996) - Rep. Don Young

Lastly in the triple threat editorials in the latest Ester Republic, but not in the leastly, Representative Don Young is foaming at his big mouth over the Endangered Species Act again: the potential designation of Cook Inlet as critical habitat for threatened population of beluga whales is enough to arouse the wrath of the Congressman for all Alaska, who never wastes any opportunity to display his obstinate stupidity and ignorance about anything that can't get him or his buddies more industry money for re-election. He's also one of the batch of Alaskan politicians that narrowly avoided the purging wave of recent statewide corruption convictions, this tea-baggin' Corrupt Bastard needs to retire and be replaced.

Along with polar bears (the poster-children for global warming), walrus and whales are also in serious trouble up here. Guys like Young might be refutations of evolution themselves, but it's still a race to see whether these perpetually re-elected living fossils will outlast many of the species under his supposed stewardship.

“We wonder why we have got the Freemen or the militants. We wonder why we have got unrest in this country. It is because our government, in fact, has got out of hand and out of line, with the Endangered Species Act.” - Rep. Don Young
