Soon to be a full-sized poster, this was drawn during a unit on landscape, and also serves as a great example of pen + ink textures and contour line. Plus a lesson in contrasting colors.
Oh yeah, and then there's the matter of a squirrel grinding on the branch, which isn't really all that obvious. Unless of course you are either the person who draw it, or take the time to digitally isolate it in order to confirm one's sneaking suspicion that there's something subliminal going on. But seriously it's just natural animal behavior when marking territory by scent posting.

Anyways it reminds me of an unpublished sketch that was so meta there's no way to ever appreciate the gag unless it ran in black + white while also simultaneously seeing the original in full color.
