MishMash 2022 update: Yesterday evening’s “soft” opening (ie scaled-back promotional efforts, no food etc.) in light of COVID resurgence and coupled with another brutal cold snap started out slow for the first hour, and then someone threw a switch for the last couple hours so a nice little crowd of folks dropped in. Seeing some longtime friends & fans for the first time in a year was really nice, and I look forward to hanging out the rest of the month for on-site demos + personal/private tours of the show.
Aside from the (Double) Daily Doodles over on Instagram (@907nuggets) and daily postings on the official Facebook event page, I did a silly little 60-second ad out front of the distillery. My initial idea was to burrow under the snow and pop up for the speech, but the layer of ice (stemming from our cataclysmic series of recent storms) actually had curved downward at the edge of the snowbank on account of runoff from the roof, and so effectively prevented me from even getting started. Since it was -35°F at the time, there was only one take, so after bonking my head a few times I just went ahead with the rest of the shoot. This of course meant the remainder of time gives the viewer a good example of someone suffering from “cold shock response,” which at my age and condition would have been a recipe for a stroke were it not for the insulating layer of blubber strategically developed over the winter (similar to walrus and other large arctic animals). So the increasing confusion, halting delivery and rapid decline in speech is not to be confused with intoxication, even though it was pointed out I have as of late conflating being an “influencer” with “being under the influencer.”
But seriously, a big CHEERS to the wonderful folks down at Ursa Major Distilling for being such excellent hosts (again) and everyone who turned out in support!
