“Baked Alaska” #69 + #70 + bonus doodles

There'll still be a couple more posts - next two Saturdays at high noon - where we'll upload the last of the doodles.... but for today, jump below the fold and find out what the last two "Baked Alaska" panels are!

Somewhat evocative of #9 "Stiff Joints" way back in 2019. You can tell right away that I had no idea how to position the hands, and would need reference sketches from a model. Which I did...

... which in turn made for a real nice composition with good depth, point-of-view, contrast and color.

I'll be a little cryptic here and tease out that there's a good reason why I'm not too terribly bummed about making these far before finding out about the folding of their host publication. It'll be proof positive how important it is to always own the rights to your work, and the value of creative capitol + basic intellectual property rights.

So now this here's the last unpublished, completed (ie colored) panel, "Alaska Chamber Pot," which doesn't even sport the "Baked Alaska" masthead. Almost like it's going directly into a new publication...

All hinting aside, this ballpoint pen doodle is right from the omnipresent sketchbook, then hit up with some wash. Like the next, last piece in this post (and also all the pieces in the next two Saturday high noon posts), it never went anywhere, penciled or published. The Halloween one is a remix of a classic Nuggets from way back in 2017. The Low/High one I think is good enough to get some mileage out of with some merch, maybe magnet and/or sticker...
