What do you call a woodpecker with no beak? A Headbanger!
So join us in a treehugger's lament (full story here) for the felling farewell of a famous Interior icon - actually there will be some good to come from recycling the by-products:
Fairbanks Daily News-Miner Editorial Thumbs up: It’s sad news that the big, dying spruce tree at Creamer’s Field Farmhouse has to be cut down, but the tree will live on through a wonderful idea by Friends of Creamer’s Field to have artists make something out of pieces of the tree and then sell the items next year. The original pen & ink/wash version of the whimsical panel posted above will be one among many fine works of art that will be on display and available for purchase (proceeds to benefit Friends of Creamer’s Field) at this first-ever 1st Friday event. It'll probably get hung in the outhouse out back of the Visitor’s Center,
Also visit the Facebook event page for "In Celebration of the Tree" First Friday Show, and stop by while on the opening rounds.
